Local Summer Activities

S bar F Scout Ranch Service Work Day
The Shawnee Lodge will be hosting the first ever S bar F Scout Ranch Service Day on Saturday, June 7, 2008. The day will include a few hours of service while working side-by-side with the 2008 Camp Staff, completing projects that will prepare each camp, Gamble and Famous Eagle, for the Summer Camp season. The day will end with activities, including swimming at Huck’s Cove (weather permitting).

Summer Camp Staff
Camp staff provides a great opportunity for a young man to broaden his Scouting contacts, improve his leadership skills, and serve the thousands of Webelos, Scouts, Explorers, Venturers, and leaders who attend our camps each year.

Horse Camp
The long term horse program will be a seven day, adventure filled experience. Features include horseback riding, swimming, skeet shooting, climbing tower, campfires, and much, much more. A horse show will be the grand finale on the seventh day.

Ranger Program for Older Scouts
Returning in 2008: Two Different Ranger Programs
The Ranger Program is designed for those Scouts who are 14 or older, or in their fourth summer camp, are in good physical condition and are looking for fun, adventure, and challenges in the backwoods of the
S bar F Scout Ranch.

Order of the Arrow Summer Camp
Indian dancing, water-skiing, Native American seminars, mountain biking, ceremonial team preparation, rappelling, ceremonial regalia making, and much more. Sessions and training is held each morning on a wide variety of Order of the Arrow topics

New OA Program For Weekly Summer Camp
New for 2008: Fun activities for OA Members during your troop's week summer camp
The new OA Program at summer camp has been unveiled and it is “turning heads!” Scouts across the lodge are talking about this overnight at Huck’s Cove and the tree houses.
