Announcements: Attention Arrowmen
Shawnee Lodge Arrowmen we need your help! A Lodge the size of ours should be able to have a great Dance team. The youth that we currently have are starting to age out. We would like any Arrowman in our Lodge, that has any interest in Native American dancing to come check us out. If you can't come to us we may be able to come to you. It is up to each person as to how much to put into dancing. It can be as simple as dancing for scout events or you can get into dancing enough to compete in Powwows with Native Americans. We have dancers ready and willing to help anyone with any dance style.
We would love to have you check us out!
News Update
Shawnee Lodge’s dance team is
growing. We had three Scouts compete at NOAC, and two of those dancers
made the top 20. Chris Polley and Ethan Armstrong both deserve a big
thank you and congratulations for doing such an outstanding job.
At Section Conclave in October
the lodge had four Scouts compete. Chris Polley and RJ Barnes danced
Traditional, Chris placed 2nd. This was RJ's first competition and
though he didn't place he learned a lot and we look forward to seeing
him dance again. Brandon Henzie danced his way to 3rd place in the
Grass Dance competition. This was Brandon’s first competition also.
Ethan Armstrong jumped and spun his way to 1st place in the Fancy
dance category.
We are always
looking for new dancers. The South Clan practices the 1st Tuesday and
the 4th Wednesday of the month in Fenton. Contact Ethan Armstrong for
information about the dance team. Dance team information will be
available at the Winter Fellowship Banquet which will be held on
December 18. Results from NOAC 2006
Shawnee Lodge had three
dancers compete in the dance contest at the 2006 NOAC, in East Lansing
MI. This was the largest NOAC with over 8000 Arrowmen in attendance.
The first of the Lodge's dancers to compete was Ethan Armstrong, in
the Fancy Feather competition. There was over 50 dancers in this dance
style, and Ethan danced his way to the top 20. The Lodge had two
dancers, Chris Polley and Joey Lauberth, dance in the Northern
Traditional competition. There were over 160 dancers in this dance
style. Chris danced his way to the top 20.
All of dancers on the dance
team would like to invite you to join us. We are looking for any one
interested learning the different dance styles. If you are interested
contact Ethan Armstrong through email by

About the Shawnee Lodge Dance Team
We currently have two Clans: the North Clan, which
consists of North Star, Pathfinder, and New Horizons; and the South
Clan which houses everyone else.
I just wanted to thank all the dancers that involved with our lodge.
We can always use more dancers, though. Dance team gives you a chance
to remain active doing OA things, besides the 2-3 times a year you
normally do. If you are on a ceremonial team, come check out the dance
team. You may find you will like it. I am on both the dance team and a
ceremonial team. We currently have dancers ranging in experience from
beginners to very experienced. We have resources to help anyone who
wants to dance. We currently have two clans, the North Clan and the
South Clan, but are willing to start new clans wherever there is
enough interest. NOAC is fast approaching, but it is not too late to
get active and compete in the national dance competition. Remember
that participating on the dance team does fulfill a Brotherhood
requirement. I would like to make our dance team as GREAT as our
lodge, but I need your help. So if you're interested, e-mail me by
clicking here and put
"dance team" in the subject line. Thank you, and keep dancing down the
road of life.
