2012 One Day of Service

The One Day of Service for 2012 will be on March 31st and will take place in 2 separate locations.  This event is being offered free of charge to all participants!  To reserve your spot, please register online at the link below.

The One Day of Service program is an opportunity for our lodge to do meaningful service to our community all on one day. One of the main points in our Order’s current Strategic Plan is to give “Broader Service to Scouting and the Community”.  The One Day program directly tackles this issue and broadens that range of cheerful service we do as Arrowman.  We take a step out of our council camps and go back to the roots of the Scouting program with a deep commitment to the community we live in.  Not only are we fulfilling our obligation as Arrowmen, we are also setting the example for and encouraging that spirit of community service in our Scouts and Scouters.

Babler State Park

Originally a Civilian Conservation Corps camp, Babler has many historic building that are in need of general repair, including masonry, carpentry, and removing of unwanted vegetation. Babler also has a Special Use campground that is available to Scouts. This site is in need of general repair and landscaping. Scouts will also be assisting in the clearing and marking trails as well as de-berming park trails to address a standing water issue.

Confluence Point State Park

The confluence point is one of the area’s best places for bird watching as millions of birds migrate along the Mississippi River corridor each spring and fall. Confluence Point State Park is part of the Confluence Greenway, a 200-square-mile network of conservation, heritage and recreation attractions being developed along the Great Rivers in the heart of the bi-state St. Louis region. The park features outdoor interpretive exhibits that give the history of the rivers and explain the role they played in the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Scouts will be assisting in planting live stakelings along the river and other lowland areas. Scouts will also be assisting in the planting of trees.
