Elsewhere Election Procedures
As outlined in the Elsewhere Camp Election Procedures C.

  1. Troops going elsewhere must submit the Elsewhere Camp Application A to the Greater St. Louis Area Council office by May 1.

  2. Election must take place in the month of May.

  3. Elections to be conducted by the Chapter Adviser and Chapter Chief or their designees.  In any case election team must consist of one adult and one youth from the O.A. and not connected with the unit conducting the election.

  4. The troop conducting the elections must announce to the unit members the dated of the election for two meetings prior to the election.

  5. The election will be conducted at a regular meeting of the unit.

  6. The unit must produce advancement records and camping records of the candidates prior to the election.

  7. The election will be conducted under the summer camp election rules and procedures.

  8. Elections results are to remain confidential until the troop attends camp. Troops from the Greater St. Louis Area Council may not participate in another Lodge's Pre-Ordeal or sleepout at camp but may participate in a Callout with written permission. No unit may conduct it's own Callout, Pre-Ordeal, or sleepout. If an elected candidate (Scout or Adult) fails to attend the entire long term camp, his election is void; all other results stand. No additional candidates may be substituted.

  9. If a troop desires to have it's candidates called out in the Greater St. Louis Area Council, this may be done at the S bar F Ranch at a Thursday Night ceremony during the regular camp session. If the troop elects to do this the Director of Camping must be notified at least one week prior to the call-out you wish to attend. The citation and induction fees should then be turned in at the camp you attend for the ceremony. This must be done by noon the day you plan to be in camp.

  10. All Shawnee Lodge candidates must participate in the sleepout and Pre-Ordeal under the auspices of the Shawnee Lodge, either by making arrangements during the summer camp season or at later ceremonies as set-up by our lodge.

  11. Citation and induction fees for these new candidates, and the Elsewhere Camp Report B must be turned into the Boy Scout Service Center by August 15. Report B should be turned in within the two weeks after the out of council camp.

  12. The Ordeal and Induction will be completed at the Fall Reunion held at the S bar F Scout Ranch, along with the candidates who were elected at our council camps.

The Elsewhere Procedures may not be used in a troop two consecutive years. For the year following an elsewhere camp the Order of the Arrow election must be conducted at a Greater St. Louis Area Council camp while the troop is in attendance at long term summer camp.

Approved by the Shawnee Lodge Order of the Arrow - March 1986. Updated August 1995.
